Seeing a Bulldog Specialist...

One of my vets can be found at the Homestead Animal Hospital in Englewood, Colorado. Dr. Tom Geiselhardt is a bulldog specialist here in Denver, who delivered my six litters of puppies I raised. It is so important that wherever you live you seek out a specialist for your bulldog. Bulldogs are unique and their bodies can sometimes look like they have issues to vets when they really don’t. What is “normal” for a bulldog looks like trouble to the inexperienced vet. A specialist is aware of that and will always be able to give you correct advise and keep your bulldog healthy. For example in a normal bulldog's X-ray of the hips it would seem to a vet that the dog has arthritis and that is not so. A bulldog's leg bones do not fit exact into the sockets and appear to have arthritis when in fact it is a normal look for them. Only a specialist would know the difference! I have had tremendous results with Dr. Tom and feel he knows more about the breed than just about anyone.! You can call him at Homestead Animal Hospital with any questions at 303-771-7350, or email him at dogdoctortom@qwest.net. He is very knowledgeable about Bulldogs, and their unique problems and issues. If I ever need to go there for things I always see at least two other bulldogs!! It's a lot of fun.

Here is a testimonial to the importance of choosing a bulldog vet for your bulldog. Bella was scheduled to have a surgery she DID NOT NEED and I asked her owner to please see Dr. Tom first! Here is her letter to me:

Adele, Just wanted to let you know that we just got back from our appointment with Dr. Geislehart. Thankfully nothing is broken in her right leg. He just thinks that she sprained a ligament or something in her wrist. She will be on aspirin for a week and see how she does. As far as the patellar luxation, she DOES NOT need surgery! He said that her knees and hips look wonderful. Thank goodness! Thank you so much for helping us out! I just couldn’t bring myself to take her in for a long and painful surgery without it being needed. I’ll keep you updated! Thanks again!
