Tankrtots - What's In A Name?
Where did the name Tankrtots come from?
Back in 2006 we got Tank and three weeks later Tank went with us to pick out Harley. He knew from the moment he saw her she was his forever love. They were nose to nose and he didn't have eyes for any other puppy at the breeders. So we took her home with us and they were yin yang with each other from that moment on.
We knew we wanted to try one litter of puppies when they were both old enough so I studied everything I could about how to be the best bulldog mama I could. When they were 18 months old we did our first breeding and when the puppies were born they were Tank's little tots so we named our business Tankrtots, a play on the word Tatertots. My biggest worry was finding the "right" families for our babies. I started the website and was able to find them perfect homes.
At the same time our first litter of puppies were born my daughter Taryn was diagnosed with cancer. She went through surgery to remove her tumors. She was 17. After her recovery Taryn couldn't stand or sit for very long without pain so we turned our business into a career for her. She had always been an animal lover and this was a way for her to be around babies and do what came naturally to her. English Bulldogs need a LOT of care and she was more than willing to provide it. It gave her a purpose when she was healing and recovering.
Taryn loved every puppy and took such great care of them. She would wear them in a Moby wrap just to keep them close to her heart. It was round the clock care for many sleepless nights. Each litter took four of us taking shifts to feed them through the night every few hours. It was a labor of love but it was amazing.
Our business grew and soon we were helping our friends who had litters to find perfect homes for their babies when we didn't have puppies of our own. We would even help raise the litters and keep them in our home so we always had puppies to snuggle and smooch.
A bulldog mama can only have 2 or 3 litters safely before they should be spayed. Harley had three litters and Mugsy our other little girl had two. Taz our third girl had one litter. It was such a privilege to raise these beautiful babies and know the joy they would bring to their families.
It has been wonderful for our whole family to be able to share these beautiful babies with their new families. I have loved watching each one of them over the years and seeing them grow up and bring so much happiness to everyone around them. That's the story of Tankrtots.
